Review: Pyke 'N' Pommes, Derry.

All I can say is wow.

I have been waiting to try food from Pyke 'N' Pommes since it came under my radar while scrolling through trip Advisor, which I check often to see if there are any new culinary delights appearing nearby. This foodie heaven is definitely a perfect first review and I am already planning a trip back for more!

As you can see, Pyke 'N' Pommes is a street food van, a rare sight in the north west of Ireland and for me, it is hard to believe that such amazing food can be produced from the back of a van. The use of local, fresh produce ensures that every mouthful is packed with a delicious punch. It is situated right on the banks of the river Foyle, which offers a stunning setting to enjoy your lunch (weather permitting of course). We arrived just as they had opened and so were first in the queue, but after 15 minutes, a lot more people had gathered, showing just how good the food really is! The menu is relatively small, with roughly 5 or 6 dishes to chose from, however, I would be happy to try them all.

                                                   The Legenderry Burger

This ladies and gentlemen, was the BEST burger I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It was made of Glebe Wagyu beef, and it quite literally melted in my mouth. I have never eaten a burger so tender, juicy, and full of flavour before. It. Was. Amazing. The toppings in the burger added even more flavour, and it had just the right amount of sauce. The burger bun tasted freshly baked and was soft and fluffy. The burger is well priced at £6, and you wont feel peckish for a while after eating as the burger was HUGE. Kudos to the chef who created it.

                                                           Notorious P.I.G.

Although the burger was delicious, this pulled pork wrap was the real show-stopper for me. If I could only eat this for the rest of my life, I would be a very happy girl. Inside the wrap was tender, juicy, slow-cooked pulled pork, a crunch slaw and a delicious sauce, in a lebanese flatbread. The pink stuff at the top was betroot creme-fraiche, which wasn't to my taste, but still didnt detract from the other amazing flavours. This tasted so fresh. The slaw was fantastic and added great texture to the wrap, the sauce was tangy and I wish I could have bought a jar of it. As well as the fact that it has a great name, this wrap was very reasonably priced at only £5! I will be buying this again in the very near future.

I will be posting recipe ideas very soon, so keep your eyes peeled, and let me know if you have any suggestions. Also, if you are ever in Derry, be sure to try this place out. I promise you won't regret it.

Bon Appetit,

Hello!

I'm Martina, a 19 year old Irish food addict/student/piano teacher and this is my blog which will be dedicated to all things delectable and delicious.

I have always had a serious passion for food and I have recently become more adventurous in the kitchen so I decided to bite the bullet and give blogging a go. I sincerely hope you all like it! I will be documenting all my kitchen mishaps and marvels, sharing student-friendly recipes, and some more sophisticated creations. I LOVE eating out and so I will be posting reviews of meals in my favourite restaurants both at home in Ireland and abroad. I am by no means the world's greatest chef but I would love to teach my readers a thing or two about cooking, whether they are hopeless in the kitchen or mini masterchefs. Any suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated, on ways to improve my blog, recipes you would like to see or restaurants that I shouldn't miss out on.

Anyways, I won't drag this out any longer, if you have any questions feel free to ask, I look forward to hearing from you all.

Bon Appetit,

Martina x
